Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent professional work experience.

At least four years technical and/or solution architect experience, providing technical leadership and best practices in how technology can and should be deployed.

Fundamental understanding of software development life cycles, application release management and software development methodologies.

Knowledgeable in Agile software development, including experience leading an Agile development team (i.e., collaborative solutions using software development methodology based on iterative and incremental development).

Knowledge and experience in open source technology platforms such as Red Hat JBoss and open source database platforms.

Experience in application development using best-of-breed automation technology for business process modeling, execution and business rules management technology.

Experience in all aspects of use case modeling including requirements gathering, use case model walkthrough with business users and communicating use case requirements to the application delivery team.

Experience in leading and facilitating workshops in business requirement analysis, rapid application development or joint application development, including development and use of traceability matrices.

Experience in design through development of software components, designed to be reused by more than on business application/project, including understanding of enterprise application integration and interface design.

Knowledge and experience in Agile development project management framework, best practices, process and tools (e.g., Rally).

Experience with Government of Alberta IT environment, including knowledge of Government of Alberta Enterprise Architecture (GAEA) or similar corporate architectures, and all associated best practices, methods, standards, tools, policies, and processes.

Experience and/or an understanding of the core functionality and associated business processes and in developing systems that have a roster/vendor management component, contract component and financial payment component.

Proven analytical and problem solving skills in planning and high level design of creative, effective solutions to meet business requirements, including decision making with respect to developing requirements into packaged solutions, based on information management/information technology knowledge.

Proven ability to communicate effectively and establish rapport with application delivery team, business users and client organization, including ability to deal effectively with staff at all levels from support personnel to senior management.
