Job Opportunity
Description1. Perform on-site survey of network cabling infrastructure and network equipment inventory 2. Based on collected survey data, design the necessary network cabling requirements for migration 3. Based on collected survey data, determine the network equipment required for migration (with assistance from senior analyst) 4. Perform (or coordinate) the installation of network equipment 5. Assist senior analyst(s) in the development of a Technical Solution Paper (TSP), which entails the technical network design, work plan, costs estimates, timelines and resource requirements associated with the assigned project 6. Provide technical advice and consultation to Manager

Experience Required/ Mandatory Skills
  • Intermediate level of work experience with CISCO layer 2-3 technologies, including planning, design, and implementation, in an intermediate to large scale network infrastructure. (Minimum 3 years)
  • Hands-on experience in performing network fault management, trouble shooting and resolution, at the tier-2 or tier-3 level. (Minimum 3 years)
  • Prior participation in intermediate to large scale ICT projects (Minimum 2 years)
  • CCNA or higher certification (or comparable certification or equivalent years of networking experience)
  • Available to start August 2010
 
Nice To Have Skills
  • Experience with the Alberta Supernet (Minimum 1 year)
  • Experience with OSPF and/or other routing protocols design and oeprations (Minimum 1 year)
  • Project management experience (Minimum 1 year)
  • Experience with networking aspects of Microsoft Windows desktop and servers (Minimum 2 years)
  • Familiarity with the Alberta Government ministries IT infrastructure and applications (Minimum 1 year)
